After a 3 year hiatus, I am writing a post! I’ve been thinking about returning to blogging for a while; with Roswelle back in school full time and James Kate in preschool 3 mornings a week, I finally have some time to create and write! I’ve been using instagram as a creative outlet, but lately I’ve found the short, click-bait format draining more than anything else. I’ve been craving the long-form nature of blogging, allowing me to document in a relaxing platform. Many are turning to podcasts for this, but my creative outlet will always be styling, photographing, and writing….not talking. James Kate uses up all the talking reserves I possess.
Now on to what I really want to write about today, fall decor around the house. This year I tried to reuse as much as possible, while adding some faux pampas grass, merlot candle sticks, dried floral wreaths, and mums! I shop local as often as possible >> Briggs Nursery in North Attleboro (the best quality mums), Only Prettier Design in Norfolk (pillows, pampas grass, candles, matches and more), White Barn Farm (white pumpkins), and local thrift shops are what I have been frequenting lately.
It’s a struggle to find the balance between autumn warmth and modern minimalism. This September, I attempted to pull mauve, cream and black throughout the house. When I’ve seen pictures I like, styled for Fall, I noticed they used more shades of wine than pumpkin, and I tried to use that as a guide. Like anything, I’ll keep tweaking until it’s time to completely redecorate for Christmas!
